Underestimate Me

This small piece has two segments of a bunny ear cactus. While it may sound cute and be less striking than the long spikes that we usually associate with cactus this variation is no less memorable once it has been encountered. The small mounds you see dotting the face of these paddles are bunches of brittle spines called glochids. Each tiny hair-like spine breaks off as the glochid is disturbed, burrowing their hair-like spikes with fish-hooked shaped ends into the interloper and ensuring they are not quickly removed or forgotten.
